It was exactly on October 4, 1940, when the then government accepted the proposal of the preparatory committee and issued a regulation with the force of law No. 248/Slovak Code, granting public status to the College of Commerce (the predecessor of the University of Economics in Bratislava), essentially giving consent to the establishment of the College of Commerce in Bratislava.

In the winter semester of the academic year 2023/2024, the University of Economics in Bratislava will host exchange students from 15 different countries within the Erasmus+ programme, Bilateral cooperation and National Scholarship Programme. The largest group of students comes from partner institutions in Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, and Germany. Additionally, students from Canada, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan have also taken advantage of the opportunity to study at the University of Economics in Bratislava. For the first time, foreign full-time students from Kenya, Vietnam, and Kazakhstan also participated in this event.

On September 11-12, 2023, the Department for Science and Doctoral Studies of EUBA prepared the 4th edition of the 'PhD. Orientation Days'. The aim of the event is to provide information on PhD studies

On 20 - 23 July 2023 the European Universities Combat Sports Championship took place in the Croatian city of Zagreb, attended by 1537 athletes from 398 universities and 31 European countries. The European Universities Combat Sports Championship is held under the auspices of the European University Sports Association (EUSA), alternating every year with the European University Games. The event featured contests in 4 combat sports: karate, judo, taekwondo and kickbox.

Department of International Cooperation of the University of Economics in Bratislava organised the 1st edition of summer school entitled Bratislava Summer School 2023 - Challenges of Global Leadership which took place from July 17 to 21, 2023. The summer school was attended by students from several prominent European universities, namely ISEG - Lisbon in Portugal, KU Leuven in Belgium, SGH - Warsaw School of Economics in Poland and the University of Applied Sciences Bochum in Germany.

The University of Economics in Bratislava has signed a double-diploma agreement with the University of Coimbra in Portugal. The double diploma is intended for students in the study programme Applied Economics conducted in the Slovak and English languages at the Faculty of Economics and Finance. In addition to pursuing this double diploma programme, the faculty has also concluded double-diploma agreements with Nottingham Trent University in Great Britain, University of Pavia in Italy and joint-diploma agreement with the Faculty of Law at the University of Economics in Bratislava.
