On the occasion of the 5th IBSM conference "Business Management and Accounting", co-organized by the Faculty of Commerce in Bratislava in cooperation with the Hanoi University of Industry, Trisakti University, Jakarta and the University of Social Sciences in Warszaw, the Rector of the University of Economics in Bratislava, Mr. Ferdinand Daňo, and members of the scientific and organizational committee of the conference, Mr. Peter Drábik and Ms. Paulína Krnáčová, visited from April 17 to 22 2018, the capital of Vietnam – Hanoi. On this occasion, they had several important meetings.

On April 17, 2018, the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Slovakia, H.E. Ms. Maria Louisa MARINAKIS, gave a lecture at the course Diplomacy in Practice. Mr. Boris MATTOŠ, the Vice-Rector for International Relations and Ms. Andrea VALACHOVÁ, the Vice-Dean for Foreign Relations and Public Relations at the NHF UEBA informed the guest about the cooperation of the UEBA with the universities in Greece. A student from the University of Macedonia currently interning at the Greek Embassy in Bratislava attended the meeting too.

In the week of April 16 – 18, 2018, the University of Economics in Bratislava hosted 16 representatives from 15 foreign universities in Europe, Asia, Africa and North America as a part of the Joint International Week organized by the UEBA in Bratislava with the support of Erasmus + in cooperation with Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (WU), where the program continued on April 19 and 20, 2018.

On April 10, 2018, Ambassador of Ireland to Slovakia, H.E. Ms. Hildegard Ó Riain, gave a lecture at the University of Economics in Bratislava as part of the course Diplomacy in Practice. The guest was informed on cooperation with the with Irish universities Mr. Boris Mattoš, Vice-Rector for International Relations and Ildikó Némethová, Vice-Dean for International Relations at the Faculty of Applied Languages.

On 27 March 2018, Ambassador of the French Republic in Slovakia, H.E. Mr. Christophe Léonzi gave a lecture at Diplomacy in Practice lecture series. The Ambassador was welcomed by the UEBA’s Rector, Mr. Ferdinand Daňo. The meeting was attended by Mr. Boris Mattoš, Vice-Rector for International Relations and an intern at the French Embassy.

On March 27, 2018, the UEBA’s Rector, Mr. Ferdinand Daňo, welcomed at her own request the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Albania in Slovakia, H.E. Ms. Enkeledu Merkuri. Discussed at the meeting was academic cooperation with Albanian universities. Mr. Boris Mattoš, Vice-Rector for International Relations, informed about the ongoing projects.

On March 15, 2018, the University of Economics in Bratislava in cooperation with the Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia, and the Embassy of the Republic of Ireland in Slovakia organized another discussion panel on the future. The main guest of the event was Ms. Helene McEntee, Ireland’s Minister for European Affairs from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ireland. The other partners in discussion included Mr. Ladislav Miko, Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia, and Dušan Matulay, General Director of the Section of Economic Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic. 

On March 8, 2018, Rector of the University of Economics in Bratislava, Mr. Ferdinand Daňo received a delegation from Tishreen University in Syria headed by Rector of this university prof. Hani Mahmoud Shaaban. Members of the delegation from the Syrian university were Dr. Jaber Diba, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Dr. Louya Mohamad Sayouh from the Department of Economics and Planning at the Faculty of Economics, prof. Sawsan Salman Ghazal, Head of International and Cultural Relations and Public Relations at Tishreen University, as well as Ali Assad, MSc., PhD., President of the National Union of Syrian Students in Slovakia.

On March 13, 2018, the Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia, H.E. Rein OIDEKIVI gave a lecture at the University of Economics in Bratislava at the 23rd edition of Diplomacy in Practice. The lecture was devoted to the current political and economic developments in the European Union in relation to Estonia.
