Ferdinand Daňo has taken up the office of University Rector for the term of office running from February 2, 2023 until January 31, 2027.

"I highly appreciate the trust placed in me again by staff members and students of our university. The Rector's office is not only a challenge for me, but also a great responsibility I have towards the University's employees and students as well as towards all those who, in one way or another, teamed forces with the University of Economics in Bratislava. The past term of office was very turbulent. It was marked chiefly by the COVID-19 epidemic and energy crisis - events that put great challenges before us. I am glad that the University managed to obtain in the past term of office a prestigious international accreditation for business-oriented schools - AACSB that no other university in Slovakia has received so far, as well as a prestigious HR Excellence in Research award, conferred by the European Commission. In the context of these two milestones, I feel entitled to say that the University of Economics in Bratislava has gone through substantial transformation in the recent years, geared towards world quality standards. The objectives that the University will face in the current term of office as regards enhancing quality of the educational process, research, internationalisation, improving conditions for the University’s students and employees as well as more intensive cooperation with business and community environments pose challenges that I and my close collaborators, the University's employees and students intend to address and overcome. It is of utmost importance to continue building the University of Economics in Bratislava, which is perceived and recognised as a modern and dynamic university on par with major and generally respected higher education institutions with a similar professional focus at least in the region of Central Europe, having high professional and research standards reflecting social responsibility, which comes to the fore in individual cooperation projects with institutions and organisations both in Slovakia and abroad," said Rector Ferdinand Daňo in his inaugural speech.

The University of Economics in Bratislava is part of the European Higher Education Area and the common European Research Area. Being part of this setting, the University has the mission to provide high-quality education at all three higher-education levels encompassing a complex of business and management study programmes and selected study programmes in humanities and information sciences, and to develop knowledge based on free creative research in economics, information sciences and humanities, thus contributing towards developing knowledge society in Slovakia and in the European Area.

"I firmly believe that all of our goals, intentions and visions we wish to address in the future as part of EUBA's development will be a success owing to cooperation, mutual regard, respect and natural partnership between employees, teachers and students of the University," said the University Rector to conclude his speech.

The EUBA Rector and EUBA Faculty Deans were also congratulated by Eduard Heger, caretaker Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic and a former graduate of the Faculty of Commerce.

"It is a great honour for me to be at my alma mater today, standing here to congratulate the Rector and Faculty Deans on their inauguration. Education is the starting point of success for each country, and it is right here where such education has been imparted on our students for decades, as has been said. I thank the entire academic community for what you have been doing for Slovakia," said Eduard Heger in his speech.
