On Wednesday, 2 October 2019, the IBM Rest Zone in the V1 Building was opened on a tape cutting ceremony in the presence of the university management, IBM representatives, and students.
Before cutting the tape, Mr Mike Prendergast, head of IBM's financial centres said: “We are pleased to be able to participate in the education and development of university students—many of whom work with us—and to strengthen our long-term partnership. Thank you for the opportunity to better develop our cooperation.”
“The cooperation and partnership of the University of Economics in Bratislava and IBM is characterized mainly by maximum professionalism of both sides and we are pleased that this mutual interest brings great benefits for both our company and the university. In particular, we see this in the number of jobseekers in our company and in our colleagues who are EUBA graduates,” said Paul Burt, IBM Managing Director for Slovakia.
The rector of the University Prof Ferdinand Daňo thanked the company for the beautiful relaxation zone and in highlighted not only this activity but also the solid foundations on which the university-IBM partnership stands. “We firmly believe that we will agree with IBM on the continuation of this relaxation zone, so that university students will have more time to relax during breaks waiting for lectures and seminars,” he added with a smile.
President of the Student Parliament Mr Tomáš Mazán also thanked the IBM representatives for building a rest area for university students and added in a quick breath that: “The Student Parliament is pleased that the collaboration of the University and IBM has transformed into this beautiful space in which students can not only learn, relax, but also entertain themselves playing electronic games.”
Let us just add that the relaxation zone is located in front of the lecture rooms B1.07 and B1.08 in V1 building.
