On 5 March 2019 a meeting with Tianjin University took place. Tianjin University (TJU) is the first modern higher education institution in China and ranks among major Chinese universities.
TJU was established in 1895 in Tianjin and consists of 12 faculties, 110 research institutes, 15 experimental research centres, having more than 33 thousand students. In 2019, the university ranked among TOP 600 in Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE).
The University of Economics in Bratislava is a co-founder of the Confucius Institute which is situated at Slovak Technical University in Bratislava. Tianjin University is the main partner of the Confucius Institute. The existing cooperation was evaluates and suggestions for its future development was discussed at the meeting.
The TJU delegation consisted of representatives of the managing board of the university’s School of International Education, Ms Yang Xiaorui and Ms Feng Chenxu as well as representatives of the management of the School of Life Sciences, Mr Liu Lishan and Mr Pang Bo from the Academy of Translational Medicine. The delegation was accompanied by Mr Li Qingfeng, director of the Confucius Institute in Bratislava. Following members of the EUBA university board were present at the meeting: Mr Boris Mattoš, vice-rector for international relations, Ms Jana Péliová, vice-rector for management of academic projects, Ms Jana Blštáková, vice-dean for international relations at the Faculty of Business Management, Ms. Katarína Brocková from the Department of International Law at the Faculty of International Relations and Ms Soňa Galanová, head Department of International Cooperation of the Centre for International Relations.
